Our Purpose
Our intent is to provide you with timely news and resources from the leading edge of human achievement. The conventional media focuses almost entirely on individual or collective human failure and dysfunction. While this represents only a tiny fraction of the human experience, it dominates the media and therefore molds our individual thoughts and collective consciousness. Since we know that "form follows thought," it is only logical that as we continue to collectively focus on failure, we will continue to create more of the same.

The world faces many challenges and it is important to acknowledge these and deal with them. The conventional press and most of the alternative press are doing an excellent job of bringing these to our attention.

Our intent is to report on events, activities, achievements, project and people who represent the highest and best of human endeavor and what we can achieve, both individually and collectively. We believe that this represents the true nature of who we are.

Our purpose is not only to inform and inspire, but to provide cross cultural models from around the world as to what people are doing to solve world problems and create new options.

Positive News completely shares these aims and objectives with those of GVN. We see the Global Village as those throughout the world who have seen a vision of a new era and are dedicated into bringing it into reality.

Opening Hearts in the Mountains

A candle of peace, burning throughout the second World Spirit Forum in the Swiss resort of Arosa, was delivered to the World Economic Forum in Davos a symbolic gesture that the 'Spirit' of Arosa might also embrace leaders and decision-makers convening a few days later in the neighbouring valley. The World Spirit Forum sees itself as an addition to the World Economic Forum and a platform for spiritual ideas and thoughts.

Removing the Walls that Divide Us

In previous articles, Peter Williams, International Consultant for Values Education, wrote about schools in Kuwait and Pakistan where he helped implement the values approach to learning and witnessed its success. Recently, the Beijing Institute of Education invited him to China to share his expertise and help develop a new Living Values Model for Chinese schools. During his time there, he went to Dongzhimen Middle School, in Beijing, to meet the students who, 5 years earlier, had forged links with his own pupils in Hexham to encourage international understanding and remove the 'mind walls' that cause cultural stereotyping.

Make Poverty History 2005

In February, Nelson Mandela addressed a huge crowd in Trafalgar Square, London, and appealed for an end to poverty and inequality.

Nelson Mandela began his speech by saying that he had recently announced his retirement from public life and should not have been there at all, but as long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality persist in the world, nobody can truly rest.

H.D.R.A – the organic organisation
www.hdra.org.uk

HDRA is a registered charity, and Europe’s largest organic membership organisation. It is dedicated to researching and promoting organic gardening , farming and food, which is done through a great number of books with helpful advice as well as regular programs on the television. The HDRA headquarters feature some organic display gardens, restaurants and gift shops, which attract thousands of visitors each year. HDRA's Heritage Seed Library offers hundreds of old unusual vegetable varieties for posterity, also distributing them to its 30,500 members. HDRA supports small, scale farmers, of the Third World too, teaching them organic practices of benefit. In addition, HDRA publishes a catalogue, The Organic Gardening Catalogue, offering the very best selection of organic products in the country.  Many farmers in developing countries recognise the need to use safe and sustainable farming methods, but much of the information and advice available to them, influenced by chemical companies, promote high levels of external inputs. The inputs recommended are not only environmentally unsound but are often too costly for small-scale farmers.  The aim of the international programme is to develop, improve and promote techniques for sustainable land use in rural, peri-urban and urban areas in the tropics and sub-tropics. The main focus is poverty alleviation through the improvement of existing farming systems and livelihoods to increase food security, long-term productivity, safe food production and environmental protection.

The World Revolution
www.worldrevolution.org

It aims to resolve in a definitive and comprehensive manner the major social problems of our world and our era. Major issue areas of the World Revolution include: peace, human rights, the environment, and world poverty.
