Our Purpose
Our intent is to provide you with timely news and resources from the
leading edge of human achievement. The conventional media focuses almost
entirely on individual or collective human failure and dysfunction. While this
represents only a tiny fraction of the human experience, it dominates the media
and therefore molds our individual thoughts and collective consciousness. Since
we know that "form follows thought," it is only logical that as we continue to
collectively focus on failure, we will continue to create more of the same.
The world faces many challenges and it is important to acknowledge these and
deal with them. The conventional press and most of the alternative press are
doing an excellent job of bringing these to our attention.
Our intent is to report on events, activities, achievements, project and
people who represent the highest and best of human endeavor and what we can
achieve, both individually and collectively. We believe that this represents the
true nature of who we are.
Our purpose is not only to inform and inspire, but to provide cross cultural
models from around the world as to what people are doing to solve world problems
and create new options.
Positive News completely shares these aims and objectives with those of GVN.
We see the Global Village as those throughout the world who have seen a vision
of a new era and are dedicated into bringing it into reality.

Architecture for Humanity
Design Like You Give a Damn
Cameron
Sinclair runs Architects for Humanity, a small but effective
pressure group founded in 1999 with the aim of directing design
talent to areas of the world affected by trauma. This includes
earthquakes (such as Bam in Iran), the recent tsunami in Sri Lanka
and Aceh, the Aids epidemic in Sub-Saharan Africa and the war in
Kosovo. Architects and engineers have a critical role to play in the
immediate and especially medium to long term reconstruction of areas
affected by both natural and man made disasters.

A Match Made in Heaven
Walking
into Crossroads Village in Tuen Mun it is easy to feel that
some-thing big and exciting is taking place. There are volunteers
from Kazakstan, school groups from Tai Tam, mothers from Mong Kok,
and 40-foot containers bound for India. At the new home of
Crossroads International a charity which sends donated goods to
those in need an ex-army barracks is being exuberantly transformed
into a hub of humanitarian aid. When Social Services
Secretary, Carrie Lam, handed over the 40-acre site for the rent of
HK$1 a year, she was also excited. She has a vision of Crossroads
Village becoming a place that will attract tourists and foreign
dignitaries. She also believes that Hong Kong is not just about
finance and entertainment.
