Our Purpose
Our intent is to provide you with timely news and resources from the
leading edge of human achievement. The conventional media focuses almost
entirely on individual or collective human failure and dysfunction. While this
represents only a tiny fraction of the human experience, it dominates the media
and therefore molds our individual thoughts and collective consciousness. Since
we know that "form follows thought," it is only logical that as we continue to
collectively focus on failure, we will continue to create more of the same.
The world faces many challenges and it is important to acknowledge these and
deal with them. The conventional press and most of the alternative press are
doing an excellent job of bringing these to our attention.
Our intent is to report on events, activities, achievements, project and
people who represent the highest and best of human endeavor and what we can
achieve, both individually and collectively. We believe that this represents the
true nature of who we are.
Our purpose is not only to inform and inspire, but to provide cross cultural
models from around the world as to what people are doing to solve world problems
and create new options.
Positive News completely shares these aims and objectives with those of GVN.
We see the Global Village as those throughout the world who have seen a vision
of a new era and are dedicated into bringing it into reality.

the Common Cold
USA - Don't worry, be happy and, according to new research, you will
also be healthy. It is estimated that over the course of one year,
Americans suffer 1 billion colds. But new research shows that all it may
take to avoid this common affliction is a positive and upbeat attitude.
People who are energetic, happy and relaxed are less likely to catch a
cold than those who are depressed, nervous or angry, finds a new study
published in the journal Psychosomatic Medicine.

Vietnam Reduces Poverty by 40
Percent Since Mid-80s
Vietnam - The United Nations Development Office recently
commended Viet Nam for transforming itself from a food hungry nation
to the second largest rice exporter in the world, and a major
exporter of other cash crops. Largely due to land and price reforms,
poverty was reduced from well over 70 percent in the mid-1980s to
about 29 percent.

Billionaire Commits Personal
Fortune To "Get American Back On Track."
USA -- George Soros, one of the world's richest men, has given
away nearly $5 billion to promote democracy in the former Soviet
bloc, Africa and Asia. Now he has a new project: defeating President
Bush. "It is the central focus of my life," Soros said, his blue
eyes settled on an unseen target. The 2004 presidential race, he
said in an interview, is "a matter of life and death."

"Last Night I Dreamed..."

I dreamt last night that we all, everyone, stood in a cave
together. Each of us held a candle, precious light that illuminated
our world. The cave was beautiful, hung with crystal stalagmites
that glistened and reflected our lights. There was perfect love,
perfect joy, reflected in those shimmering walls. The light warmed
us and we were content.
