Our Purpose
Our intent is to provide you with timely news and resources from the
leading edge of human achievement. The conventional media focuses almost
entirely on individual or collective human failure and dysfunction. While this
represents only a tiny fraction of the human experience, it dominates the media
and therefore molds our individual thoughts and collective consciousness. Since
we know that "form follows thought," it is only logical that as we continue to
collectively focus on failure, we will continue to create more of the same.
The world faces many challenges and it is important to acknowledge these and
deal with them. The conventional press and most of the alternative press are
doing an excellent job of bringing these to our attention.
Our intent is to report on events, activities, achievements, project and
people who represent the highest and best of human endeavor and what we can
achieve, both individually and collectively. We believe that this represents the
true nature of who we are.
Our purpose is not only to inform and inspire, but to provide cross cultural
models from around the world as to what people are doing to solve world problems
and create new options.
Positive News completely shares these aims and objectives with those of GVN.
We see the Global Village as those throughout the world who have seen a vision
of a new era and are dedicated into bringing it into reality.

Jews & Arabs Confront The Holocaust
.... Together
Poland - At the end of May nearly 300 Israelis - half Israeli
Arabs, half Jews - traveled to Auschwitz to learn more about the
Holocaust and try to help heal the wounds of the present conflict in the
Middle East. They talked in whispers as if it was too painful to speak
about the horror out loud. They hugged each other and sobbed - a group
of Israeli Jews and Israeli Arabs together sharing the pain of the
Holocaust.

Patriot Act Under Seige Across The
USA
USA . - Arcata, a quaint town on the northern California
coast, may look sweet - old, low-to-the-ground buildings, town
square with a bronze statue of William McKinley, ambling pickup
trucks -- but it acts like a radical. Arcata was one of the first
cities to pass resolutions against global warming and a unilateral
war in Iraq. Last month, it joined the rising chorus of
municipalities to pass a resolution urging local law enforcement
officials and others contacted by federal officials to refuse
requests under the Patriot Act that they believe violate an
individual's civil rights under the Constitution. Then, the city
went a step further. This little city (pop. 16,000) has become the
first in the nation to pass an ordinance that outlaws voluntary
compliance with the Patriot Act.

New Institute Challenges Election
Fraud As Political Parties Face Major Fines
Mexico – Juan Antonio Gonzalez Zambrano doesn't
particularly care for any Mexican political party, or for politics
in general. But the 52-year-old owner of a rotisserie chicken eatery
in downtown Mexico City has a new hero, and an unlikely one at that.
"There will always be a table here for the IFE," he says of Mexico's
electoral watchdog, the Federal Electoral Institute. The IFE
recently handed down a staggering fine against one of the country's
major political parties and is investigating Mexico's president for
campaign-spending violations, all in an effort to clean up politics
here. "They can eat all the chicken they want - for nothing," he
adds.

Swami Beyondananda is not a serious candidate for the Presidency ...
and that is precisely why he is tossing his turban into the ring and
asking for your vote. After all, look where the serious candidates
have gotten us. Says the Swami: “We’re faced with a scary dictator
protected by an Elite Republican Guard who has threatened to use
weapons of mass destruction — and now we’re dealing with Saddam,
too!”
The problems may be serious, says the Swami, but maybe the
solutions are humorous. “A lot of people have gotten the feeling
that there’s definitely something funny going on. Well, who better
than a comedian to deal with it? Hey, sometimes it takes a clown to
catch a clown.”
