Our Purpose
Our intent is to provide you with timely news and resources from the
leading edge of human achievement. The conventional media focuses almost
entirely on individual or collective human failure and dysfunction. While this
represents only a tiny fraction of the human experience, it dominates the media
and therefore molds our individual thoughts and collective consciousness. Since
we know that "form follows thought," it is only logical that as we continue to
collectively focus on failure, we will continue to create more of the same.
The world faces many challenges and it is important to acknowledge these and
deal with them. The conventional press and most of the alternative press are
doing an excellent job of bringing these to our attention.
Our intent is to report on events, activities, achievements, project and
people who represent the highest and best of human endeavor and what we can
achieve, both individually and collectively. We believe that this represents the
true nature of who we are.
Our purpose is not only to inform and inspire, but to provide cross cultural
models from around the world as to what people are doing to solve world problems
and create new options.
Positive News completely shares these aims and objectives with those of GVN.
We see the Global Village as those throughout the world who have seen a vision
of a new era and are dedicated into bringing it into reality.

Three Indiana Schools Get $13.8
Million Grant To Wage Peace
USA - Three small colleges in Indiana are engaged in a
multimillion-dollar collaboration called Plowshares to bring national
renown to their studies about peace and justice.
The Indiana collaboration - named after the verse in the Old Testament's
Book of Isaiah that calls for people to ''beat their swords into
plowshares'' and abandon war - is funded by a four-year $13.8 million
grant from the Lilly Endowment, which is based here.

Dung Powered Electricity Debuts In
Britain United Kingdom - While gas prices
sky-rocket and Mideast oil supplies become less and less certain,
entrepreneurs in England are finding ways to "grow your own" energy
from the animal waste collected from nearby farms. Developers are
hoping that their first dung-fired power station will be the first
of a network of "green" energy plants.

Computer Scientist Challenge
Safety Of Electronic Voting USA - The Virginia
State Board of Elections had a seemingly simple task before it:
Certify an upgrade to the state's electronic voting machines. But
with a recent report by Johns Hopkins University computer scientists
warning that the system's software could easily be hacked into and
election results tampered with, the once perfunctory vote now seemed
to carry the weight of democracy and the people's trust along with
it.
