Our Purpose
Our intent is to provide you with timely news and resources from the
leading edge of human achievement. The conventional media focuses almost
entirely on individual or collective human failure and dysfunction. While this
represents only a tiny fraction of the human experience, it dominates the media
and therefore molds our individual thoughts and collective consciousness. Since
we know that "form follows thought," it is only logical that as we continue to
collectively focus on failure, we will continue to create more of the same.
The world faces many challenges and it is important to acknowledge these and
deal with them. The conventional press and most of the alternative press are
doing an excellent job of bringing these to our attention.
Our intent is to report on events, activities, achievements, project and
people who represent the highest and best of human endeavor and what we can
achieve, both individually and collectively. We believe that this represents the
true nature of who we are.
Our purpose is not only to inform and inspire, but to provide cross cultural
models from around the world as to what people are doing to solve world problems
and create new options.
Positive News completely shares these aims and objectives with those of GVN.
We see the Global Village as those throughout the world who have seen a vision
of a new era and are dedicated into bringing it into reality.

Arabs & Jews Rally For
Reconciliation
(An Eyewitness Report From A Participant/Organizer, Eliahu
McLean)
ISRAEL - Many grassroots initiatives are happening in the Land of
the Prophets that
can give us hope for peace. One such event was the recent Sulha
gathering in the Galilee. From June 30th to July 1st we held the third
annual Sulha gathering in the olive groves near the Druze village of
M'ghar. Joining us were over 1500 Arabs and Jews, including 200
children. International guests included John Qhuzulini Sithole - Zulu
traditional activist, peacemaker, and artist from South Africa; Farah
Gaye - a Sufi sheikh from Senegal; and Geshe Thubten Phelgye - a member
of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile. Ongoing events included a welcome
center, women's tent, children's space, art tent, a kitchen and a stage
with live music.

The Answer My Freind, Is Blowing
In The Wind...
DENMARK - So what's the question? The question is
hinted at by the gas station signs which are increasingly
embarrassed to advertise their skyrocketing prices. The Question is
"When, Where, How and How Soon Will We Get Over Our Oil
Addiction?" How? The Answer My Friend, Is Blowing In The Wind.
Or so it would seem if you were arriving in Copenhagen by sea. Your
first glimpse of Denmark is the Middelgrunden Wind Farm, a row of 20
enormous wind turbines gently spinning above the waves nearly two
miles offshore. Middelgrunden is the world's largest offshore wind
farm, dominating the views from Copenhagen's docks and seaside
parks. With blades 100-feet long, its wind machines generate enough
power to supply 32,000 households. It's a fitting introduction to
Denmark, a nation of 5 million that has emerged as the undisputed
leader in wind energy.

Druid's Reduce Traffic Fatalities
On Austrian Autobahn
AUSTRIA - Inexplicable reoccurring traffic accidents
along certain stretches of highway? When everything else fails, call
up your local Druid. That's what they did in Austria and the fatal
accidents dropped to zero. In a two year secret trial, the Druids
used a divining rod to inspect a 275-metre stretch of the A9
autobahn in Styria, Austria and determined where to erect a series
of huge one ton monoliths of white quarts along the road to restore
the natural flow of "earth energy." The results? Fatal
accidents fell from an average of six a year to zero. According to
Gerald Knobloch, and archdruid who oversaw the experiment, "I
located dangerous elements that had disrupted the energy flow. The
worst was a river which human interference had forced to flow
against its natural direction. By erecting two stones of quartz at
the side of the road the energy lines were restored." Knoblock
explains that the pillars had a similar function to acupuncture.
