Our Purpose
Our intent is to provide you with timely news and resources from the
leading edge of human achievement. The conventional media focuses almost
entirely on individual or collective human failure and dysfunction. While this
represents only a tiny fraction of the human experience, it dominates the media
and therefore molds our individual thoughts and collective consciousness. Since
we know that "form follows thought," it is only logical that as we continue to
collectively focus on failure, we will continue to create more of the same.
The world faces many challenges and it is important to acknowledge these and
deal with them. The conventional press and most of the alternative press are
doing an excellent job of bringing these to our attention.
Our intent is to report on events, activities, achievements, project and
people who represent the highest and best of human endeavor and what we can
achieve, both individually and collectively. We believe that this represents the
true nature of who we are.
Our purpose is not only to inform and inspire, but to provide cross cultural
models from around the world as to what people are doing to solve world problems
and create new options.
Positive News completely shares these aims and objectives with those of GVN.
We see the Global Village as those throughout the world who have seen a vision
of a new era and are dedicated into bringing it into reality.

Positive News was handed the guardianship
of Global Village News and Resources in summer of 2004. Although we would like
to continue to make the archives available to subscribers and readers we would
like to point out that stories published prior to issue 89 were not under our
editorial guidance and would like to make a distinction that these are not
necessarily a reflection of the current opinions of our editorial team.
In The News…
University of Tehran To Promote
Human Rights Studies
IRAN - While the USA backpedals human rights at home and
abroad, it's popping up in some unexpected places in the Middle East. A
new initiative in Iran, co-ventured by the United Nations Development
Program and the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences at the University
of Tehran, has led to the creation of the Centre for Human Rights
Studies at the University.

From Wheat to Plastic - A
Biodegradable Alternative? UK - A wheat-based
biodegradable product could provide an environmentally-friendly
alternative to that most problematic component of our household
waste – plastic. At present over 96% of the 2.5 million tons of
household plastic the UK uses every year ends up in landfills where
it will lie for decades before it begins to breakdown.

Worn Out At Work? Check Your
Lights
USA - It is no secret that since the majority of Americans
spend over half their lives at work, the thought of the office does
not evoke the most positive images for most of us. What most people
do not realize, however, is that it may be the office building
itself that is causing the feelings of stress and fatigue
experienced by most working people. For at least eight hours a day
each week, most of us work under lights we would never consider
putting in our homes. Headaches, eyestrain, and foggy thinking -
symptoms most commonly attributed to stress or fatigue are actually
the result of the antiquated fluorescent lighting still being used
in 99% of offices nearly 75 years after its invention, despite
overwhelming scientific evidence that it is harmful to people’s
health.

Guest Editorial
Parallels To the Third Reich In
The USA Today
By Christos Rudy,
www.Heartcom.org
"When The Government Fears The People, There Is Liberty.
When The People Fear The Government, There Is Tyranny."
-- Thomas Jefferson
Everyone likes to say, "Hitler did this" and "Hitler did that."
But the truth is Hitler did very little. He was a world class
tyrant, but the evil actually done by the Third Reich, from the
death camps to WWII, was all done by German citizens who were afraid
to question if what they were told by their government was the truth
or not. Because they were afraid to question the government, they
refused to see the truth behind the Reichstag Fire, refused to see
the invasion by Poland was a staged fake, and followed Hitler into
national disaster.

human biochemistry."
