Our Purpose
Our intent is to provide you with timely news and resources from the leading edge of human achievement. The conventional media focuses almost entirely on individual or collective human failure and dysfunction. While this represents only a tiny fraction of the human experience, it dominates the media and therefore molds our individual thoughts and collective consciousness. Since we know that "form follows thought," it is only logical that as we continue to collectively focus on failure, we will continue to create more of the same.

The world faces many challenges and it is important to acknowledge these and deal with them. The conventional press and most of the alternative press are doing an excellent job of bringing these to our attention.

Our intent is to report on events, activities, achievements, project and people who represent the highest and best of human endeavor and what we can achieve, both individually and collectively. We believe that this represents the true nature of who we are.

Our purpose is not only to inform and inspire, but to provide cross cultural models from around the world as to what people are doing to solve world problems and create new options.

Positive News completely shares these aims and objectives with those of GVN. We see the Global Village as those throughout the world who have seen a vision of a new era and are dedicated into bringing it into reality.

Stop climate chaos - stand up and be counted with Sustrans

Sustrans is the UK's leading sustainable transport charity. Its vision is a world in which people choose to travel in ways that benefit their health and the environment. It is achieving this through innovative but practical solutions to the UK's transport challenges. On Saturday 4th November 2006, Sustrans and the Stop Climate Chaos coalition are staging a huge event in Trafalgar Square, London, to launch the ‘I Count' campaign!

On the eve of critical international climate change talks in Nairobi, thousands of people will be sending the message to the government, and other world leaders, that they too must stand up to stop climate chaos. People will be travelling to the event from across the UK in ingenious low-carbon ways to take part in a range of activities around London during the day.

There will be the Campaign against Climate Change march, which will converge on Trafalgar Square for the main event. In the Square there will be music, film, special guests and speakers, including a video message from David Attenborough pledging his support for the campaign.

Sustrans say "Whether you care about the environment, global poverty, transport issues, wildlife or just you and your family, climate change is fast becoming the greatest challenge we face, affecting everything we do. But we can stop climate chaos if we act now."

Those who can't make it to London for the event can still show your support - everyone who signs up to the campaign via text message or by logging onto the campaign website (to be launched in October) will be counted ‘virtually' on the day. A live counter will clock up those in the Square and those who care but couldn't come along.
