Our Purpose
Our intent is to provide you with timely news and resources from the leading edge of human achievement. The conventional media focuses almost entirely on individual or collective human failure and dysfunction. While this represents only a tiny fraction of the human experience, it dominates the media and therefore molds our individual thoughts and collective consciousness. Since we know that "form follows thought," it is only logical that as we continue to collectively focus on failure, we will continue to create more of the same.

The world faces many challenges and it is important to acknowledge these and deal with them. The conventional press and most of the alternative press are doing an excellent job of bringing these to our attention.

Our intent is to report on events, activities, achievements, project and people who represent the highest and best of human endeavor and what we can achieve, both individually and collectively. We believe that this represents the true nature of who we are.

Our purpose is not only to inform and inspire, but to provide cross cultural models from around the world as to what people are doing to solve world problems and create new options.

Positive News completely shares these aims and objectives with those of GVN. We see the Global Village as those throughout the world who have seen a vision of a new era and are dedicated into bringing it into reality.

Awards for Women in Ethical Business

Good Energy is the only electricity company to supply each and every customer with 100 per cent renewable electricity. It has recently won the Women in Ethical Business Awards, organised by Triodos Bank and Eve magazine at a ceremony in London.

Founder and Director of Good Energy, Juliet Davenport, picked up the award that celebrates the best female run ethical business in the UK. Good Energy had to beat some stiff competition to win: competitors included Safia Minney of People Tree, Jill Barker of Green Baby and Lizzie Vann of organic food company, Organix Brands.

"This is a huge honour for me and the Good Energy team," said Juliet. "I am confident that the award will help to raise awareness about the importance of renewable energy as part of the solution to climate change. To choose an ethical approach to business is important for a sustainable future."
Karen Martin from Triodos Bank said: "Good Energy is such a worthy winner. We were delighted with the quality and quantity of applicants, especially in the award’s inaugural year. We were inspired to have so many of the country’s most exciting ethical entrepreneurs together in one room. We’re already looking forward to next year’s competition!"

Triodos Bank’s Managing Director, Charles Middleton said: "The breadth of experience and talent shown here demonstrates that women entrepreneurs are really driving forward a way of doing business that values people and the planet as well as profit."

Triodos Bank finance enterprises that create social, environmental or cultural added value. Key sectors include organic food and farming, renewable energy, social housing, and fairtrade. Transparency is a core value: customers are informed about the bank’s lending and can target their savings to particular areas of investment. They offer a range of personal savings accounts and full banking services are available for businesses and charities. Triodos is an independent bank founded in the Netherlands in 1980. Its principles and independence are protected via a shareholding trust. The UK office based in Bristol, opened in 1995.

Good Energy’s prize for winning this award is a business development package of £2,500 from Triodos Bank.
