Our Purpose
Our intent is to provide you with timely news and resources from the leading edge of human achievement. The conventional media focuses almost entirely on individual or collective human failure and dysfunction. While this represents only a tiny fraction of the human experience, it dominates the media and therefore molds our individual thoughts and collective consciousness. Since we know that "form follows thought," it is only logical that as we continue to collectively focus on failure, we will continue to create more of the same.

The world faces many challenges and it is important to acknowledge these and deal with them. The conventional press and most of the alternative press are doing an excellent job of bringing these to our attention.

Our intent is to report on events, activities, achievements, project and people who represent the highest and best of human endeavor and what we can achieve, both individually and collectively. We believe that this represents the true nature of who we are.

Our purpose is not only to inform and inspire, but to provide cross cultural models from around the world as to what people are doing to solve world problems and create new options.

Positive News completely shares these aims and objectives with those of GVN. We see the Global Village as those throughout the world who have seen a vision of a new era and are dedicated into bringing it into reality.

In The News…

Editorial

It all began for me in 1970s, when I started a small, local publication called Link Up, to connect people who were involved with the slowly emerging alternative scene. This quickly grew to become a magazine called Global Link Up, which was distributed around the world and lasted for 13 and a half years.

The transition into a newspaper came about partly because Michael Lightweaver invited me to a conference on Media Networking in America. He had produced one issue of a newspaper called Planetary Connections and invited me to do the same things in the UK. I took the baton from him and Planetary Connections merged with Global Link Up, eventually evolving into Positive News.

The Church of Stop Shopping
by Steve Gabriel

NEW YORK CITY - There's a church out there unlike any other, where worshipers repent for the sins of shopping and corporate control, where gospel hymns condemn the modern way of life that has become dominated by profits over people. Reverend Billy and the Stop Shopping Gospel Choir are a group based out of New York City that, "...believe consumerism is overwhelming our lives."

Positive News, Hong Kong

Positive News is published in Hong Kong in English and Chinese. Editor, Peter Lloyd, says: "Hong Kong can seem an ecological desert at times. The amount of waste, pollution and unconscious living can seem overwhelming. So the need for positive news is strong. China is becoming the world's factory and an important part of the world economy. So, the idea of being able to present alternative views here seems even more important."

Positive News U.S. Is Now More Than a Newspaper
by Marty Luster and Ilonka Wloch

Positive News is becoming a movement.  It is what people read when they want to find out what action is being taken by everyday citizens when they are confronted with environmental concerns, with issues of peace and war, when they become aware of the need to promote a sustainable society, when justice, both legal and economic, appears threatened, when the spiritual element of our lives is weak, when the efforts of young people need recognition and encouragement and when we can all use a solid dose of hope. In short, Positive News U.S. is a source of inspiration and when people, in increasing numbers, seek inspiration from something that looks like, feels like and seems like a newspaper - -that's a movement.
